September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

September 30 in Canada is now known as the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Since 2013, September 30 has also been known as Orange Shirt Day which is a day to honor Indigenous children who were forced to attend residential schools.

The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation will be a time to reflect or take part in a community event.

It will be a statutory holiday for federally regulated workplaces.
