Three of our local athletes were in action on the opening day of competition at the Special Olympics Canada 2018 Summer Games Wednesday.
Elizabeth Abler of Antigonish finished first in her 50m freestyle swimming event.
Heatherton swimmer Jessica Gillis was third in her 50m backstroke event.
Ryan Kearney of Antigonish finished 26-over after the opening round of golf at the Antigonish Golf and Country Club.
