After a stellar week for StFX Sports announced the athletes of the week.
No surprise that the Female Athlete is Rugby player Olivia DeMerchant.
DeMerchant received the U SPORTS tournament MVP award, playing a key part in the X-Women’s national championship win.
She scored on three tries over the weekend and was also named a U SPORTS tournament all-star.
The X- Women won the Championship game by a score of 41-24 over Guelph Sunday.
Football running back Jordan Socholotiuk was named the Male Athlete of the Week.
He scored two touchdowns and was the player of the game in StFX’s 33-10 AUS semifinal playoff win over Acadia Saturday.
Socholotiuk had a 103 yard rushing TD in the game, the second longest in AUS history, along with a 52 yard rushing TD.
In addition he is the leading rusher in the country this season, finishing with 242 total yards on 24 carries in the game.
