Strang Says It’s OK To Wear Mask And Distance After Restrictions Lift

The province’s top doctor says we now have the tools to manage COVID-19.

Dr. Robert Strang says things like contract tracing, vaccines and restrictions are being phased out over time.

He says other things will remain, and are available at any time if we need them.

“We can continue to wash our hands and clean high-touch surfaces, and we can continue to wear masks in indoor public places where distancing is not possible,” says Strang.

He says it’s part of a new normal, and how to keep others safe, especially our most vulnerable citizens.

Strang says there’s always going to be a risk, as we move to living with the virus long-term.

“There is no textbook that lays out for us exactly when and how to do this. It’s a balance, the same balance that we’ve tried to achieve over the last two years.”

Strang says our choices and actions become even more important as restrictions lift.
