SunWing is giving refunds on vacations canceled due to COVID 19 – but there is a deadline!

Well, well, well. SunWing has begun refunding customers who had their vacations cancelled due to COVID.

I remember the night back in early 2020 when I said to my husband, “well, maybe this will all be over soon, we could still go in June”

Wow. I REALLY didn’t understand what was coming.

They started out by saying we could cancel but had to pay an “admin fee”

Then, if I remember correctly, they refunded that. And then….I don’t remember exactly, just more frustration.

We had close to 4k tied up but I recall reading comments online from people who had booked group trips and were into the 20-30k range. It was a tough situation for people who at that point, were beginning to realize the seriousness of COVID and the potential financial implications.

We spoke to customer service multiple times but their hands were tied. It was a bad situation all around.

My husband actually called them in early June and tried again. No dice. At the end of the call he just said, “ok, can you note on our account that we’d like a refund if the option becomes available?”

We left it at that.

Then he called me last week and said we’d been refunded! They announced (ahem *quietly*) back in late June that refunds were now available but customers need to apply for them.
