Suspect in Inverness Co. home invasion scheduled to return to court

A woman from Sydney Mines facing three charges after an alleged home invasion in Inverness Co. is expected back in court Wednesday.

RCMP say they charged Jessica Carolanne Leroy, 24, with break-and-enter to a residence, assault with a weapon and resisting arrest; she’s expected for election-and-plea in Wagmatcook Provincial Court after the hearing was adjourned in February.

They say a woman and three men went to a home on Subdivision Rd. in Waycobah in May 2018; there was an altercation, and bear spray was used.

Police say another woman was injured when she was assaulted with a rock.

They say they arrested the woman following a short foot chase; she was treated for minor injuries, spent the night in custody, and was released on conditions the next day.

RCMP say they also arrested a man, but he fled in a vehicle.
