Suspect in Inverness Co. vehicle checkpoint scheduled to return to court

A Shubenacadie man charged following a vehicle checkpoint in Inverness Co. is expected back in court Tuesday.

RCMP say they laid drug charges after officers found cocaine, marijuana, cash and drug paraphernalia in a vehicle in Mabou in Sept. 2017.

The case of Dwight Barkhouse, 36, opened in court in Oct 2017.

Barkhouse has elected a Nova Scotia Supreme Court trial by judge and jury; his preliminary hearing, which determines if there’s enough evidence to send a case to trial, got underway in March.

It resumed in August; it’s expected to continue in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court.
