Suspect out on bail after hate rant at Halifax Costco

The suspect facing a slew of charges after a racist rant at a Halifax Costco has been released on bail with a number of conditions in place, including staying away from the store.

In an email to Acadia News, the Nova Scotia Public Prosecution Service says Randall Byron Publicover, 37, had to pay $2,000 and is supposed to not be within 50 metres of the Chain Lake Drive Costco as well as any mosque or Islamic community centre in HRM.

In addition to the that, Publicover must not have any weapons such as a firearm, crossbow or ammunition on hand.

It was early afternoon July 4, when police say they were called to the store over a man yelling offensive language at Muslim women and assaulting another customer filming it.

He resisted arrest July 9 at a home in Port Dufferin before he was brought into custody. He had a bail hearing July 10.
