Case adjourned for Suspects in Inverness Co. drug trial

A man and woman facing drug charges following a traffic stop in Inverness Co. had their case adjourned Friday.

RCMP say members of the Inverness-Richmond District Street Crime Enforcement Unit laid the charges after they stopped a car on Rte. 19 in Port Hastings in June 2017.

They say they arrested an Antigonish man and a Port Hastings woman after they seized roughly 50 grams of cocaine.

Police originally charged Gabriel Chaisson, 42, and Carol Taylor, 42, with trafficking cocaine and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

The pair, who made their first appearance in the case the day after their arrests, had a charter hearing in August; the judge denied the application in October.

Their trial is scheduled to resume July 9th in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court.
