Tamarac Education Centre playground moving ahead

Very exciting news was announced this week by the Tamarac Education Centre Playground committee!

You will remember that a number of years ago, most of the playground equipment at the elementary school in Port Hawkesbury was removed due to safety concerns. Raising money for a new playground has become the responsibility of the community. A dedicated group of volunteers has been working to raise money through various fundraisers and grants.

Below is the latest update from the committee:

The TEC Playground committee is pleased to announce that in partnership with the school we have secured a $100 000 grant from the NS Department of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage. We have raised significant funds to go along with the grant. This means Phase 1 of the project will move ahead and we should see new playground equipment in the upcoming school year. Fundraising will continue for Phase 2 but this is a very significant step in the right direction. Thank you to school administration, staff, local businesses and community members for all your support!
