The 100th year anniversary of 4-H in Nova Scotia was celebrated in Heatherton on Saturday

Did you know that 4-H began in Heatherton? Dr. Hugh MacPherson from St.FX extension department lead the formation of the first club in Heatherton in 1922.

The motto of 4-H is “Learn To Do By Doing.” Members aged 7-21 learn new skills both in livestock and non-livestock projects. 4-H is one of the world’s largest youth organizations and can be found in more than 70 countries across the globe. 4-H in Canada has more than 23,500 members and 7,800 volunteers.

100th anniversary celebrations took place in Heatherton on Saturday.
