The CERB will be extended for 8 more weeks

It was announced yesterday that the Canada Emergency Response Benefit will be available for up to 24 weeks, up from the previously announced 16 weeks.

The CERB is available for:

-workers who have stopped working due to COVID-19
-are eligible for Employment Insurance regular or sickness benefits or
-have exhausted their Employment Insurance regular benefits or Employment Insurance fishing benefits between December 29, 2019 and October 3, 2020.

The method of applying remains the same, you apply either through Service Canada or the Canada Revenue Agency, not both.

If you are eligible, you can receive $2000 for a 4 week period. You must reapply for additional 4 week periods.
