The Tree for Boston lighting ceremony is tonight

The Tree Lighting ceremony for the Tree for Boston is tonight!

The tree came from L’arche Cape Breton’s property in Orangedale, Inverness County this year.

This year is the 50th time a tree from Nova Scotia has been donated. The tree is a thank you from Nova Scotia to the people of Boston for their assistance after the Halifax explosion in 1917. Within 24 hours of the explosion, a train loaded with supplies and emergency personnel was making its way from Boston to Nova Scotia.

The tree arrived in Boston with a police escort last month.

The ceremony on Boston Common begins at 8pm (our time)

It will be televised on WCBV and will feature some very talented Nova Scotians!

We’ll see Wendy MacIsaac and Mac Morin from Beòlach with Heather Rankin and Nova Scotian R&B artist Keonté Beals!

There will also be performances by Grammy Award winner, Darlene Love, Boston’s own Ball in the House, A Christmas Story: The Musical, and Santa!
