Three partnerships qualify to bid on Hwy. 104 twinning

Three companies will bid on the tender for the twinning of Hwy. 104 between Antigonish and Sutherlands River.

Officials with the provincial government say the prequalification phase for requests for proposal has wrapped up, and three partnerships have qualified to bid on the P3 project.

They say a request for proposals will be issued to Dexter Nova Alliance, a partnership between Antigonish-based Nova Construction and Dexter Construction, Atlantic Safelink Partners and Osprey Transportation Solutions for construction and maintenance of the twinned highway, as well as new interchanges and bridges.

Federal officials announced $90 million in funding to help twin the 38-kilometre stretch of highway in July; their provincial counterparts have committed $195 million to the project.

Provincial officials say they expect to announce the winner in early 2020; work is expected to be finished by the end of 2023.
