Mulgrave‘s mayor says it’s early days for plans for the town’s new sewage treatment plant.
Town officials say they’ve been working with their counterparts in the province’s environment department for the last few years because they’ve been told their current plant would be outdated by 2020.
Ralph Hadley, the town’s mayor, tells The Hawk they’re still very early in the process of building a new facility.
“We’re just in planning stages right now on that,” he says. “We’re going to have to bear down, try to talk to the government on that, and put that (as our) number one priority.”
Hadley says they hope to get some of the funding from their provincial and federal counterparts.
The roughly one-year construction project is expected to cost somewhere in the range of $5 million.
