Newfoundland men arrested following Port Hastings bust have trial date set

Two men from Newfoundland charged in relation to a drug bust in Inverness Co. are scheduled to stand trial in July.

RCMP say officers made a traffic stop on Hwy. 105 in Port Hastings in March 2017.

They say they seized 10 pounds of marijuana and 100 grams of shatter, a highly potent form of cannabis resin.

David Bruce Huxter, 59, of Little Bay and Carl Walter Jacobs, 64 of Deer Lake each face a pair of charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking; they entered not guilty pleas in December.

Huxter and Jacobs had a date set for their trial in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court Monday; they’re expected back July 31.
