Turf field damaged in Town of Antigonish

There was noticeable damage recently done at a turf field in Antigonish.

The Town of Antigonish says their Central Turf Field was destroyed over the weekend.

They add that incidents to important community facilities like this impact everyone who relies on it for recreation, sport, and community events.

Mayor Sean Cameron said in a Facebook post that it is ridiculous that the person responsible had nothing better to do than drive a vehicle onto the playing surface.

He hopes the nearby high school’s cameras recorded the vehicle and its occupants.

If you have any information or saw what happened whether it was intentional or not, the Town asks you to email: recreation@townofantigonish.ca.

They thank residents for helping protect and maintain shared community spaces, so they remain safe and accessible for everyone.

We have reached out to the recreation department for more information.
