Two local museums get provincial funding

A pair of museums in the area are in line for some provincial funding.

Officials with the provincial government say they’re investing more than $7 million into shovel-ready repairs and updates at 11 museums across the province.

They include a $1.5 million renovation project at Highland Village in Iona, the site’s first upgrade in nearly 20 years; it includes a new welcome centre, new washrooms, updated landscaping and interpretive signs.

Sherbrooke Village in Guysborough Co. is getting $1 million to repair or replace aging infrastructure and install energy-efficient heat pumps.
