Two men arrested in an apparent case of vigilante justice in Guysborough Co. have had their cases put on hold.
RCMP say the operator of one fishing boat deliberately rammed another boat in May 2018.
They say no one was hurt, but one boat was damaged.
Police say it stemmed from recent fishing licence changes in the area, even though no one involved was fishing illegally.
They say they responded to an assault complaint one night later; the victim was taken to hospital with injuries.
RCMP say they believe that was related to the incident the night before.
They say they arrested four people in total.
Terrance Chambers, 27, of Ecum Secum faces one count of assault causing bodily harm in the case; he made his first appearance in the case two days after the original incident, and was originally released from custody, but was sent back behind bars following a breach of his conditions.
Chambers, who pleaded not guilty to his charge during an election-and-plea hearing in May 2018, was scheduled to stand trial in Antigonish Provincial Court Monday; instead, it was adjourned until Dec. 19.
Austin Stillmant Chambers, 52, of Ecum Secum pleaded not guilty to an assault causing bodily harm count in November; his trial opened in Antigonish Provincial Court Thursday, and is expected to resume Sept. 11.
Eric Victor Pace, 64, from Marie Joseph faces one count of dangerous operation of a motor vessel; Richard Pace, 45, from Marie Joseph has been charged with uttering threats and mischief causing danger to life.
The father and son are scheduled for election-and-plea hearings in Antigonish Provincial Court Oct. 24.
