The warden of Antigonish Co. says a recent regional economic development forum went very well.
Antigonish Co. and Paq’tnkek Mi’kmaw Nation officials co-hosted the forum in Paq’tnkek May 14; it featured panel discussions, breakout discussions on shared services and solar energy, and brainstorming on potential economic opportunities.
After May’s regular municipal council meeting Tuesday night, Owen McCarron, Antigonish Co.’s warden, said representatives from across the province took part.
“(It) was really well-received- it was a really good day,” he said. “I think it’s a good example of a partnership that can serve other communities and municipalities well across the province.”
McCarron said mayors, wardens, councillors and economic development leaders were on hand.
He said their next step is to work with their Paq’tnkek counterparts on renewable energy projects.
