Antigonish Co.‘s warden says municipal officials are working toward solutions at some local rail crossings.
Owen McCarron says they discussed the concerns of residents with Cape Breton and Central Nova Scotia Railway reps in the summer.
After October’s regular municipal council meeting Tuesday night, McCarron said large holes were dug out when some private crossings were removed.
“They’ve remedied those particular areas, but there (are) a couple other crossings- one in particular- where there was a farmer was impacted, and they haven’t done anything on that yet,” he said. “We’re still waiting to hear back from them on a solution for that property.”
McCarron said he’s cautiously optimistic they can resolve the issue, but getting reps from big companies to move on what they consider small items can be challenging.
