Antigonish Co.‘s warden says they’re still waiting for a report on a dangerous intersection.
Municipal councillors first brought up concerns involving the Beech Hill Rd./Trunk 4 intersection in Sept. 2017; it’s been the site of numerous crashes and near misses since it re-opened to four-way traffic in Oct. 2016.
After October’s regular municipal council meeting Tuesday night, Owen McCarron, the warden of Antigonish Co., said they expect more information soon.
“The local office indicated that there is a report coming down, so we’re hoping that we’ll get some clarity on it, and figure out what the long-term plan is,” he said. “We’re just waiting on that.”
McCarron said they’ve been told that report is coming at some point.
He told reporters he’s just not sure when.
“We were hopeful it would be here by now, but we’re still just waiting,” he said. “(As) soon as we get that, we’ll certainly be reporting back to the public through you folks.”
McCarron said they’ve met with local DOT reps, and are just waiting to hear from provincial officials.
He has said some have speculated a roundabout will be installed, but that would take a few years, so he’d like some interim safety measures in place if that’s the decision.
