Antigonish Co.‘s warden says they’ve heard a fair bit of interest in their courthouse.
Municipal officials issued a request for proposals for the sale of the building on Main St. in Antigonish in March.
The RFP came with a restriction- the building can’t be demolished, and the exterior and footprint can’t be significantly altered.
After April’s regular municipal council meeting Tuesday night, Owen McCarron, the municipality’s warden, said they don’t need to jump right away.
“We’re in no big rush on the courthouse,” he said. “We want to make sure that the right proposal is one that’s going to fit the facility.”
McCarron said they’re open to a variety of options, including the continued use as a courtroom for jury trials.
He said they want to make sure they make the right decision.
