Inverness Co.‘s warden says they’ve applied for funding to repair the Port Hood Island wharf.
Betty Ann MacQuarrie says the wharf needs repairs because it’s the link between the island and the community of Port Hood.
MacQuarrie tells The Hawk they’ve requested help from their provincial and federal counterparts.
“We’re in the line- we’re in the queue- to apply for funding from other levels of government to do work in decommissioning the Port Hood wharf and some construction that’s needed on the Port Hood Island side.”
MacQuarrie says she hopes work will be done in the spring or summer, depending on the funding they receive.
She says Port Hood Island has been accessed through the Murphy’s Pond wharf while they wait for repairs.
