Whycocomagh forward makes QMJHL squad

A former member of the Cape Breton West Islanders has cracked a Quebec Major Junior Hockey League roster.

Chase Ellis has made the Drummondville Voltigeurs for the upcoming 2018-19 QMJHL season.

The Voltigeurs selected the 16-year-old forward from Whycocomagh in the 3rd round (50th overall) of June’s entry draft.

Ellis played 33 games for the Islanders in 2017-18, recording eight goals and 19 assists for 27 points; he recorded five goals and eight assists for 13 points in 10 playoff games.

His cousin, Colten Ellis, plays goal for the Rimouski Oceanic.
