Would you pay for new Instagram features?

I might be in the minority here, but I just don’t see myself paying for any social media app.

Admittedly, I say that as someone who spends a lot of time on Instagram.

That said, there must be some demand if these features are even being tested. Instagram is reportedly experimenting with a paid tier, loosely dubbed “Instagram Plus” that would cost around $1–$2 USD per month.

In return, users would get a handful of extra perks: longer stories, the ability to view stories anonymously, insights into who’s replaying your content more than once, and even a “super like” option for stories.

Right now, it’s only being tested in select markets like Mexico, Japan, and the Philippines, and there’s no indication yet of when, or if, it will roll out more widely.

Personally, it feels like something geared more toward creators or heavy users rather than the average person scrolling through their feed. But maybe that’s exactly the point.

Would you pay for it?
