10-year-old killed in Victoria Co. collision

Victoria Co. RCMP say they’re investigating a fatal vehicle-bicycle collision involving a child that happened Thursday on Black Rock Road in Big Bras d’Or.

At an approximately 9:45 p.m. Thursday the RCMP and EHS were called to the scene of a collision.

Police say a 10-year-old female from North Sydney riding a bicycle was struck by an SUV, and the vehicle fled.

The child was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspected vehicle was located by police at a home in Victoria Co.

The road was closed until mid-morning, and the investigation into the matter is ongoing.
