The 155th Eastern Nova Scotia Exhibition is in the books.
The five-day event at the Antigonish Exhibition Grounds on James St got underway, it wrapped up Sept 2.
Exhibition manager Donald MacLellan says they had more than 12,000 people come through the gates up slightly from last year’s fall fair.
MacLellan tells The Hawk the Saturday night concert on the outdoor stage was a highlight of the event.
“Ashley MacIssac was here and he put on a great performance, he must’ve bought in 700 (extra) people,” he says. “Everything went very well, we had an excellent exhibition.”
He says the good weather had a positive impact.
“The weather was excellent, that certainly helps promote the crowd,” he says. “We had a few showers (Thursday), but overall it was excellent weather all the way through.”
MacLellan says a horse died just before a horse pull competition at the arena Sunday.
MacLellan says it’s believed the 15 year old horse had heart problems – it’s been sent to PEI for a necropsy.
