Antigonish County Firefighters Recognized with Long Service Medals

The commitment of volunteer firefighters has been acknowledged by The Municipality of the County of Antigonish.

Members of the St Andrews and Antigonish County Volunteer Fire Departments were awarded long service medals at last night’s regular council meeting.

The following are medal recipients from the ACVFD.

30 years of service: Allan Kennedy, Willie MacIsaac, Brian MacDonald, and Hugh MacFarlane.

35 years of Service: Graham Chisholm, John Kennedy, Brendan MacInnis, George Girroir, Roddie MacDonald, Doug MacLean, Glen Tate, and Keith Trenholm.

Member David Sweet received a medal for 45 years of service with the department.

The three members of the St Andrews Volunteer Fire Department that were recognized were Henry Overmars, Benny Ten Brinkie, and George Landry who served for 30, 40, and 45 years respectively.

Warden Owen McCarron says they are all worthy recipients that provide a tremendous volunteer service and would like to congratulate them and thanks them for their service to the community.
