Supreme Court Date Set for Antigonish Town and County Consolidation

The hearing date on the legislation to consolidate the Town and County of Antigonish is confirmed.

It will be held on July 7th

Despite the opposition from some community members, the Town and County are committed to moving forward with their plans.

Some opposition comes from people that are not only opposed to consolidation, but from those that feel there should be a vote on the matter.

The group “Let Antigonish Decide” consists of community members that share the common goal of having a plebiscite vote so they can have their voices heard.

Legislation to request consolidation was passed by the Town and County back in the fall and some community members in opposition took legal action to quash this motion.
