4-H members across Nova Scotia are gearing up for one of the most anticipated annual events of the year, Provincial Rally! This one-day event will take place on Saturday, May 9th at the Dalhousie – Faculty of Agriculture in Bible Hill, with competitions beginning at 10am.
Provincial Rally showcases some of the core values of 4-H, highlighting public speaking, leadership and hands-on skill development. The 4-H motto, “Learn To Do By Doing”, is on full display at Provincial Rally with members competing in various competitions throughout the day.
Members competing at Provincial Rally have already advanced through several levels of competition. Members being at the club level, progressing through county and regional rallies before securing a spot at the provincial event.
A key focus of Provincial Rally is public speaking. Members can compete by delivering a prepared speech on any topic of their choosing, or members can also compete in a specialized stream of speeches in partnership with Divert NS.

This partnership encourages members to explore topics related to sustainability and environmental responsibility, core values of both 4-H NS and Divert NS. In addition to speeches, member can also present demonstrations, providing step-by-step instructions on a wide range of topics, such as a making a craft, food item or preparing livestock.

Senior members also have the opportunity to participate in the 4-H NS Ambassador competition. The top two competitors will be selected as the provincial ambassadors, and serve as the member representatives for the province over the coming year.

Creativity is further highlighted through the poster competition, where members design a poster reflecting the 2026 theme, “Community Minded, 4-H Focused”. Members can submit hand-drawn or digitally created poster, allowing the members to display their artistic skills.

Another crowd favourite event is the Lumbersports competition. This is a hands-on team competition for junior and senior members. Members compete in various activities including Pulp Sawing – Single and Double, Cross Cut Sawing, Pulp Toss, Back Tank Race and a Water Boil.

The day wraps up with 4-H Night in Nova Scotia, a celebration recognizing the outstanding members, and leaders from across the province!
Provincial Rally is a public event, and community members are encouraged to attend and experience the skills and achievements of 4-H members!
