New Antigonish clinic to support more than 10K patients

A new health clinic in Antigonish will accommodate more than10,000 patients and over 30 healthcare professionals.

The province says the Antigonish Community Health Clinic is just east of the town on 44 Ross Sears Drive, Greenwold. It will employ several existing clinics and doctors in the area who are moving to the new location.

These include Antigonish Family Practice and 220 Main Street Health as well as a physician in the community, who began seeing patients April 7.

Next week, 220 Main Collaborative Family Practice will be in the new health home, followed by Antigonish Primary Care Collaborative (Superstore) Clinic by May 31.

In the coming weeks, three more individual doctors will start seeing their patients there.

There are 36 clinic rooms, including six charting stations and three collaborative team rooms. In addition, a family room will be reserved for conversations about care, feeding infants, sensory needs and more. There are also three patient education rooms.

“New and modern facilities help us to recruit and retain providers, and this clinic will help support the current and future healthcare needs of Antigonish and the broader community,” says Minister of Health Michelle Thompson.

Same-day appointments, extended hours and virtual care options will all be available when the facility is fully operational, May 31.
