The mayor of Mulgrave says town councillors plan to meet with members of their fire department’s executive committee.
Ralph Hadley says they’ll discuss recent friction between Darlene Berthier-Sampson, the town’s chief administrative officer, and Mike Breen, the town’s fire chief.
Lorne MacDonald, the fire department’s secretary-treasurer and the town’s previous mayor, defended Breen against comments Berthier-Sampson made in an op-ed piece and on social media during February’s regular town council meeting Monday night.
MacDonald said the claims were untrue.
After the meeting, Hadley said councillors and members of the fire department executive are set to meet to discuss the ongoing issues Thursday.
“(We’ll) try to sit down and come to a consensus on this (and) try to work together on this matter,” he said. “It went on too long, and I’m getting very tired of it.”
Hadley said councillors didn’t direct Berthier-Sampson’s comments, but they stand by her.
