Defence minister in Halifax

Minister of National Defence Bill Blair is visiting the province’s capital.

He is scheduled to speak about Canada’s updated defence policy at a Halifax Chamber of Commerce event Thursday morning.

On Friday, Blair and Vice-Admiral Angus Topshee will be at the Irving Shipyard to launch construction on the new Canadian surface combatant fleet.

According to a release, it’s the largest shipbuilding initiative in Canada since the Second World War.
