2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics torch is up for auction in support of the Antigonish Library

The People’s Place: Antigonish Town and County Library is hosting a special auction that gives you the chance to own a unique piece of Canadian history, a 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics torch!

I remember when the torch tour came to Port Hawkesbury, do you remember that? I still have a photo of me holding it somewhere – quality is questionable though since I’m fairly certain it was taken with a Blackberry.

The design of the torch is one of the things that makes it so memorable. Its shape was inspired by the curves left behind by skis in the snow and skates on ice, along with the natural contours of the Canadian landscape and the winding route of the Olympic torch relay itself.

By placing a bid, you’re not just picking up a rare collectible, you’re also helping support the local library in Antigonish with all proceeds going right back to PARL programs & services.

If you’re looking for something unique with a story behind it, this torch is definitely it!

At the time of writing this, the high bid was $775 and the auction ends on Tuesday, June 30 at 12am. Click here to see the current bid and to place your own!
