Bear Head LNG reps sign mutual benefits, project labour agreements

Officials with Bear Head LNG say they’ve signed agreements with their counterparts with the Assembly of Nova Scotia Mi’kmaq Chiefs, the Nova Scotia Construction Labour Relations Association Ltd. and Cape Breton Unions.

They say the signing of the mutual benefits agreement with the province’s chiefs is a commitment by both sides to develop the Strait of Canso project in an environmentally sustainable manner.

Bear Head officials say the project labour agreement ensures a stable work environment for the project’s development.

The proposed LNG project in Point Tupper would be an eight-million tonne a year export facility to start, with capacity and approvals for further expansion.
