Richmond County’s EMO committee has had its first meeting.
After Monday’s regular council meeting, Warden Brian Marchand said they now have a clear idea of what the committee’s membership and priorities will be.
Marchand told The Hawk the emergency planning committee, including all of council, their municipal EMO Director, and provincial zone rep, plotted out the committee’s direction.
“We’ll decide what stakeholders we’ll have involved and the things we’re going to work on… have a bylaw and then have an emergency plan,” he said. “For a lot of the community halls and facilities, volunteers change from year to year, so you want to make sure that you have the proper contacts.”
Marchand said that work will take about six months, and they’ll try to have someone assigned to update the document with current contacts after that.
He said, after consulting with their zone rep, they have decided the committee will have a much smaller membership than originally planned, and they’ll be making decisions on what groups will be represented soon.
