Mulgrave testing former school for lead in water

Mulgrave is following the lead of schools throughout the province; they’re testing for lead.

Following widespread reports of potential lead in school water systems, Mulgrave will be testing the water in their former school, which serves as the current municipal office.

After Monday’s regular council meeting, Mayor Ralph Hadley said they have a responsibility to ensure the water is safe.

“The infrastructure here is, a lot of it’s old… we’re going to get all of the piping tested just in case there is some contamination in our water,” he said. “There’s nobody ever heard of getting sick from here or anything like that, or any bad reports, so it’s just we’re doing our due diligence.”

Hadley said they’ll also test 20 of the older homes in the town, and if they find evidence of lead they’ll test all of them.
