Man charged in Richmond Co. drug bust receives jail time

A suspect in a Richmond Co. drug bust has been sentenced to time behind bars.

RCMP say officers searched a home in West Arichat in Sept. 2018.

They say they seized cocaine, hash, marijuana, cutting agent, cash and other drug trafficking paraphernalia.

Police charged Jonathan Roger Vance, 26, with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and three weapons-related counts.

Vance pleaded guilty during an election-and-plea hearing in May; one of the weapons counts was withdrawn in July.

His sentencing hearing took place in October; the judge in the case sentenced him to 18 months in jail in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court Tuesday.
