Province announces highest ever capital plan spending

The provincial government has announced the largest one-year capital plan spending in the province’s history.

Finance and Treasury Board Minister Karen Casey presented the plan Tuesday, outlining $1.042 billion in infrastructure spending for 2020/2021.

The budget includes previously announced money set aside for the Hwy. 104 twinning between Sutherlands River and Antigonish.

It also includes major renovations at two Quad Counties schools: East Antigonish Education Centre/Academy and Cape Breton Highlands Education Centre/Academy.

The plan says work on the schools is expected to be completed by the end of the next budget year, 2021/2022.
