Antigonish mother, daughter identified as crash victims

A mother and daughter from Antigonish have been identified as the victims in a fatal two-vehicle crash in Pictou Co.

RCMP say the driver of a transport truck travelling west on Hwy. 104 in Barney’s River Station veered into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with a Pontiac G6 Saturday night.

Helen Sampson, 74, and Eva Sampson, 51, were in the car, and were pronounced dead at the scene; the truck driver was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

That section of highway was closed in both directions until Sunday afternoon.
