Officials with the StFX athletics department have named their latest athletes of the week.
Azaro Roker, a forward with the X-Men basketball team, is the male winner after he recorded a pair of double-doubles; Roker had 17 points and 10 rebounds in Friday’s road loss to UPEI, then scored 13 points and added 14 rebounds in Saturday’s win against UPEI in Charlottetown.
Jamie Johnson, an X-Women hockey goaltender, received female honours; she had three wins, including two shutouts, during the week.
Johnson made 13 saves in Tuesday’s 6-0 home win against Mount Allison, then had 22 saves in Friday’s 2-0 home win against UPEI, the third-ranked team in the country; she was named player of the game.
She recorded 31 saves and was named second star in Saturday’s 3-1 home win against Saint Mary’s, the number two team in the country; that win pushed the X-Women into a first-place tie with the Huskies in the AUS standings.
