Local sports preview (Tuesday)

There are a pair of games on the local sports schedule.

The Antigonish Bulldogs have a rare Tuesday night home game in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League; they host the Eskasoni Eagles.

The Bulldogs (19-4-1) have won five straight and 10 of the last 11 to sit in top spot of the six-team Sid Rowe Division with 39 points, three points up on the second-place Miners; the Eagles (7-14-1) are fifth with 15 points.

The teams have split the first two games in their four-game season series; both ended 4-3.

Puck drop at the Antigonish Arena is 7 p.m.

 

There will be plenty of local talent on display in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

The Cape Breton Eagles host Pleasant Valley’s Jacob Hudson, Antigonish’s Jake and Sean Stewart, Beaver Meadow’s Ryan MacLellan and the Moncton Wildcats.

The Eagles (28-14-3), winners of four straight and 11 of their last 12, are fourth in the 10-team Eastern Conference with 59 points, two points behind Rimouski for third, and six points ahead of fifth-place Charlottetown; the Wildcats (32-12-0) are second with 64 points.

Moncton has a 5-2 lead in the nine-game season series between the Maritimes Division opponents.

Puck drop at Centre 200 in Sydney is 7 p.m.
