Boudreau acclaimed Richmond Tory candidate

A former town councillor is making the jump to provincial politics.

Trevor Boudreau has been acclaimed as the Tory candidate in Richmond for the next provincial election.

The Progressive Conservatives named Boudreau on Aug. 6.

He was twice elected to town council in Port Hawkesbury- first in 2012, then again in the last municipal elections 2016.

Boudreau moved outside town limits earlier this year, and his fellow councillors didn’t grant him an extension to stay on until the upcoming municipal elections in October.

Alana Paon won the seat for the Tories in 2017, defeating long-time Liberal MLA Michel Samson, who had represented the riding since 1998; she was booted from the Tory caucus for what party leader Tim Houston described as “a number of issues” in June 2019.
