Charges dismissed against suspects in Inverness Co. traffic stop

Two people arrested in connection to a traffic stop in Inverness Co. have had their charges dismissed.

Police say officers found cocaine, marijuana, dextroamphetamine, oxycodone and drug paraphernalia when they stopped a vehicle in Port Hastings in Oct. 2017.

They charged Andrew Carver, 44, of Halifax and Nancy Marie Olsen, 41, of Glendale with four possession for the purpose of trafficking counts each.

The pair, who elected a Nova Scotia Supreme Court trial by judge alone during an election-and-plea hearing in April 2018, were committed to stand trial following a preliminary inquiry in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court in July.

They made a charter application in January; a judge granted their application to exclude certain evidence Thursday.

The Crown called no evidence, and the charges were dismissed.
