Guysborough‘s warden says residents- and non-residents- are getting plenty of use out of the Chedabucto Lifestyle Complex.
The facility, which officially opened in June 2018, is into the second winter of which people have been able to use the shinny rink and figure-eight skating loop.
After January’s regular municipal council meeting Wednesday, Vernon Pitts, the warden of Guysborough, said usership numbers are up.
“The facility is being utilized more and more, I find,” he said. “I find a large increase over (2019)- (in 2019), it was new.”
Pitts said people from outside the municipality are also taking advantage of the facility.
“The vast majority of our residents use it, but we have a lot of people coming from Antigonish, Port Hawkesbury, Pictou Co., wherever,” he said. “They rent the ice, they come down just for an enjoyable skate, or a little bit of pick-up hockey.”
Pitts said people learned of the facility in 2019.
He said they’re coming back in 2020, and bringing others with them.
