Warden says theatre reps should have former NSLC building soon

The warden of the Municipality of the District of Guysborough says the former NSLC building could be in the hands of local theatre reps by Friday.

Officials with the provincial government sold the property to their municipal counterparts for $1; municipal officials are in the process of flipping it to reps with Mulgrave Road Theatre so they can expand their operation.

After January’s regular municipal council meeting Wednesday, Vernon Pitts, the municipality’s warden, said they have to make sure everything is in order before the building changes hands.

“There’s insurances and stuff like this that has to be transferred back and forth- we were previously insuring it until we transfer,” he said. “We’ve got to make sure everything is in place before you actually pull the trigger.”

Pitts said he signed the deed Monday.

He said it’s with their lawyer to be registered.
