Coady to move ahead without involuntary layoffs

The President of StFX says there will be no involuntary layoffs at the Coady International Institute.

Kent MacDonald says the responses to voluntary separation offered to employees along with several employees obtaining other employment opportunities on campus will bring the Coady in line with operating costs.

Dr. June Webber recommended with the new structure, the Coady will be best served by an Executive Director.

MacDonald agreed with this recommendation and Webber’s last day at the Coady will be March 8th.

Gord Cunningham will assume the role of Executive Director.

Cunningham has been with the Coady for 22 years.

MacDonald says Cunningham has over 30 years of experience in community economic development, community-based microfinance and asset-based community development in Canada and around the world.

MacDonald says he is pleased to know they have the right talents and skillsets required to drive the Coady forward.
