Councillors won’t investigate CAO- warden

The warden of Inverness Co. says there will be no investigation into their chief administrative officer.

A taxpayer letter, which was signed and presented by Councillor John MacLennan at December’s Committee of the Whole meeting, accused Keith MacDonald of biased hiring and contracting practices, as well as mismanagement of water services.

Betty Ann MacQuarrie, Inverness Co.’s warden, tells The Hawk the CAO has been operating under the direction of councillors.

“Everything that was discussed in the letter came forward to us for our approval, with all of council present,” she says. “We were well posted on everything that was recommended and eventually approved.”

MacQuarrie says councillors stand by their CAO and staff members.

She says they’re doing great work, and the letter has no merit.
