Pair arrested in police chase scheduled to return to court

A man and woman from Alberta charged in relation to a chase that started in Antigonish Co. and ended with four police vehicles damaged in Pictou Co. are expected back in court Friday.

RCMP say officers cuffed two people and put them in the back of an unmarked cruiser in relation to a stolen property investigation in Purl Brook in December.

They say the pair fled in the vehicle, eventually crossing the median into oncoming traffic on Hwy. 104.

Police say officers used their vehicles to force the unmarked cruiser into the median; there were no injuries.

Tyler Hodgson, 22, and Julia King, 22, who are both from Grand Prairie, face five charges in relation to those incidents- theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation, flight from police, escapes lawful custody and possession of property obtained by crime.

They also face dangerous operation and flight counts from another incident two days earlier.

Hodgson and King, who have been in custody since their arrests, are scheduled for bail hearings in Antigonish Provincial Court after they were adjourned in December, and again due to the weather Wednesday.
